โพเทนชิโอมิเตอร์ (potentiometer) เป็นทรานสดิวเซอร์วัดตำแหน่งและระยะทางชนิดเปลี่ยนแปลงค่าความต้านทานประเภทพาสซีฟ โดยอาศัยหลักการแปลงตำแหน่งและระยะการเคลื่อนที่ให้อยู่ในรูปของค่าความต้านทานไฟฟ้า นิยมใช้ในอุตสาหกรรม มีโครงสร้างที่ง่าย ประกอบด้วยตัวต้านทานและหน้าสัมผัสที่สามารถเลื่อนไปมาบนตัวต้านทานได้ โดยหน้าสัมผัสสามารถเคลื่อนที่ในแนวเชิงเส้น เชิงมุม หรือทั้งสองรูปแบบซึ่งมีลักษณะการเคลื่อนที่เป็นวงซ้อนหรือเกลียว ค่าความต้านทานของขดลวดที่พันบนแกนจะเพิ่มขึ้นตามความยาวของแกน โดยค่าความต้านทานเพิ่มขึ้นตามระยะการเคลื่อนที่ของหน้าสัมผัสกับขดลวด
